- How to Be Angry-Funny by Steve Hughes
METAL DRUMMER TURNED STAND UP PROVES THAT ANGER IS GOOD FOR A LAUGH.
1. Never be scared to take things too far
"Sometimes people think that if there are more old people in the room they are going to get more offended. But I find that old people get less offended than middle-aged people. Old people don't care. What are you going tell these old f-kers? They're nearer to death than you could ever understand, they've lived heaps of life you've never done and they will just go, 'What are you going to Be able to say to offend me you f_kin' young c_t? Shutup."'
2. lt's never too soon
"You can make a joke about anything straight away. I wouldn't just use a topic such as genocide so I can inflate my ego and get a cheap laugh, but you can do anything. l've met people from Palestine and Northern lreland, and when you meet people involved in this shit for real, you realise they joke about it."
3. People need to be offended
"l'm sitting therewith watching this film at home in London. Next minute there's these two guys in the lounge wearing balaclavas with claw hammers and machetes. lt made me realise, this age we live in where everybody's allowed to sue everyone and we're all so politically correct, you can't make a joke about anything because people say ‘I was traumatised!' Bullshit. All this intellectual colonialism that they're feeding people. l'm like,' Look, these f_kwits held a machete to my neck for an hour and- a-half, and I'm not traumatised. 'What is wrong with you people? As soon as they'd f_ked off again I felt alright."
